Vision and Mission
Our God-given vision and mission: Eastpoint exists to reach the lost and to love the found! In other words, we want to help people discover and take their next step with God with the goal of helping them to become healthy, mature, and whole-hearted followers of Jesus.

What do we want for every Eastpointer along their journey? (Our core values….)
1. We want people to be passionate lovers of God.
Mark 12:28 - 30
28 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”
29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’
2. We want people to be connected in vital relationship to others.
Mark 12:31 “The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
John 13:34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”
3. We want people to be servants in the Kingdom of God to a world in need.
Matthew 20:26b - 28
“26 …whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
4. We want people to grow into self-feeding disciples of Christ who reproduce themselves in the lives of others.
2 Peter 3:18 a “…grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
Hebrews 5:14 “But solid (spiritual) food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.”
Some observations about our mission, vision, and core values:
- Everything begins and ends with God, giving love and honor to Him is above all.
- It is God’s love and grace that motivates us to continue the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ. It’s His purpose that defines what this looks like as we love, connect, serve, and grow.
- Our expectation for every believer is life-transformation through God’s Word and His Spirit. We emphasize spiritual growth as a personal responsibility. We will equip people with the tools for growth, and expect them to become self-feeding (i.e. mature) disciples of Christ.
- We believe that “church” is not simply a place you go to but a people you become. As the Church we are to be “salt and light” 24/7 in the midst of a world in need of hope and in need of a Savior. Selfless service to others is a mark of one who follows Christ. The Church does not exist only for itself but for the sake of those who are not yet in relationship with God.
- We will always place people before programs because relationships are a priority.
- We believe God’s creativity should be reflected in everything we do. Excellence is a value because God does all things well. If it’s worth doing, and if it’s about the Kingdom, it’s worth doing with all of our heart and to the best of our ability.
- Our desire is to experience life’s journey together in the bond of love and the unity of the Spirit. We will guard our bond and unity and deal quickly with any divisiveness.
- We are committed to being real, not religious. How things really are is far more important than how things look.
- We believe all believers are called to be ministers. The function of pastors is to assist people in discovering and developing their own ministry. An individual’s ministry is based on their calling, giftedness, passion and character, and is most effectively carried out in cooperation with a team of fellow ministers.
- We are one with the Body of Christ. We are part of the one Church in this region and are called by God to always function as a team player. Assisting other churches has the same Kingdom value as assisting our own. Reconciliation across racial, economic, theological and other lines that divide God’s people is an essential part of affirming the unity of the Body of Christ. Therefore, we will actively pursue this until the Lord returns.
The issue with issues…
The people who make up Eastpoint Church have various theological perspectives and diverse backgrounds. As someone once said, “We agree on enough to get the job done.” That’s our policy. We do not exclude anyone on the basis of a different view on baptism, gifts of the spirit, predestination vs. freewill, or any other matter of honest theological disagreement among members of the Church. The people of Eastpoint are not connected because we all dot our i’s and cross our t’s the same theologically, but because we align ourselves with a common vision and mission as Jesus’ disciples. We hold firmly to the essentials of our faith while extending grace regarding the non-essentials.
